Hot Cakes is delighted to announce the signing of Leeds-born, London-based UK Bass icon Wittyboy.

Wittyboy's sound is influenced by a blend of Speed Garage, Hip Hop, House and Dancehall. Originally an up North ambassador for the Grime movement, he gained respect as an MC, featuring on BBC 1Xtra and receiving airplay from Mary Anne Hobbs.

The 4x4, House and Garage resurgence in 2002-2007 led Wittyboy into producing uptempo beats with melodic bass patterns, a sound which would become known as "Bassline". It wasn't long before Wittyboy became one of the key players in the scene, with a residency at the infamous Niche nightclub in Sheffield and key contributions to compilations such as Ministry of Sound: The Sound of Bassline, Pure Garage, Fabric Live and Pure Bassline. With a string of successful underground releases, official label remix work began to arise from the likes of Roll Deep, Craig David, Toddla T and Nitin Sawhney.

Wittyboy has featured on a number of guest mixes on BBC Radio 1Xtra and continues to receive regular airplay on Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Reprezent and Kiss Fresh. His new UK Bass-influenced sound has been making serious waves, with Preditah recently opening a Boiler Room set with the massive 2016 anthem Warlord.

Support from Shift K3y, Preditah, EZ, Vato Gonzales, Dj Target, Toddla T, Foor and more with recent headline shows at the 02 Academy in Sheffield.
